YIDP recognizes the importance of youth participation in decision-making at all levels because this will lead to better policy formulation, implementation and evaluation. Youth inclusion strengthens their commitment to leadership, governance, understanding of human rights and democracy. In view of this, YIDP will encourage creation of opportunities for youth to participate in homes, schools and community developments.
Effective youth participation however, requires changes in how societies perceive views of young people, innovative ways to spread information in training to facilitate intergenerational collaboration, and in organizational structures that welcome new voices. YIDP will facilitate efforts undertaken to foster intergenerational relationships and support the capacity of young people to participate meaningfully in programmes and activities that affect them.
