Event Overview

The Blue Mind Movement focuses on cleaning up Ngong River and surrounding areas while promoting mental health awareness through youth engagement in sports and non-sports activities. The event aligns with the global theme of World Environment Day and underscores the importance of climate action, mental wellness, and the blue economy.

Objectives

  1. Environmental Action: Remove plastics and restore the Ngong River ecosystem.
  2. Mental Health Advocacy: Engage youth in mental health conversations, combining physical activity with mindfulness and education.
  3. Blue Economy Awareness: Promote sustainable practices for cleaner waterways and economic opportunities.
  4. Community Empowerment: Involve local youth in both sporting and non-sporting roles to foster responsibility and leadership.

Key Activities

  1. River Cleanup Drive: Focus on areas from Kayole to Kirima, with volunteers collecting and sorting plastics.
  2. Mental Health Sessions: Youth-centered discussions and exercises with branded “Mind Balls” to spark dialogue.
  3. Sports Activities: Soccer games and drills designed to promote teamwork and resilience.
  4. Eco-Sustainability Workshops: Demonstrations on recycling, upcycling plastics, and leveraging waterway restoration for the blue economy.
